1989-2019 : Celebrating 30 years of Glass-Lining in Texas

20 September 2019
Over 30 years ago the construction of our Corpus Christi, Texas plant began.

Here’s what the 14 acres of property looked like pre-construction (in March of 1989):

It took just over a year to build what is now our 90,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility.  Here’s what the plant looked like exactly 30 years ago (in September of 1989) when construction was in full swing:

The facility was completed and opened for business in April 1990.  Here are pictures of its completion, not much different from how it looks today:

You can imagine the difficulty in starting-up a manufacturing facility that requires a group of employees with a such a specialized skill set.  At the time, many managers and supervisors from the existing New Jersey office made the move to Texas so they could share their knowledge in glassing, welding, and other areas of expertise required to fabricate glass-lined vessels.  There are a number of employees who were at the grand opening (or hired shortly after) and are still with us, including:

  • Erick Simeus, Senior Enameller (Erick was originally hired in August of 1987 when the facility was located in Union, NJ.  He was asked to transfer to Texas when this location was built)

  • Marvin Albright, Enameller (Marvin actually worked for the window company that installed all of the plant windows and louvers!)

  • Jorge Olalde, Enameller

  • Nick Ramirez, Jr., Enameller

  • Daniel Hernandez, Production Planner (originally hired as a Welder-Fitter)

  • Daniel Schroeder, Fitter

A lot of glass lining activity has taken place at our Corpus Christi plant over the past three decades.  We’ve glassed over 2,200 reactors and reglassed about the same amount, equating to nearly 4,500 vessels!  And with nearly 50 employees currently working in our Texas facility, we are equipped to continue meeting the business needs of our clients.
