Concept
Rotary evaporators are the ideal solution for the efficient evaporation of low-boiling components under atmospheric pressure or vacuum.
Typical applications include solvent recovery, distillation, concentration, and the processing of thermally sensitive substances in laboratories, pilot plants, and small-scale production.
The continuous rotation of the evaporation flask creates a thin liquid film with a large surface area. This enables exceptionally high evaporation rates while minimizing the thermal stress on the product.
Compared with conventional, non-agitated distillation flasks, rotary evaporators achieve significantly higher evaporation rates and shorter process times.
In addition, volatile components can be removed almost completely, allowing concentration up to a dry end product in the evaporation flask.
Operating Principle
The liquid to be processed can be charged into the evaporation flask batchwise by gravity, using a pump, or by means of the operating vacuum. Continuous feeding during operation is also possible.
The evaporation flask is partially immersed in an electrically heated water bath or another suitable heat transfer medium. The evaporation process can be interrupted at any time by lowering the heating bath.
The rotation of the flask ensures intensive mixing and uniform wetting of the inner surface, increasing both the evaporation area and the evaporation rate.
Low-boiling components evaporate first and are transferred through a hollow shaft to the condenser. There, they are condensed, optionally subcooled, and collected in a distillate receiver.
The rotary evaporators are equipped with all essential instrumentation for safe and efficient operation.
The ATEX-compliant touchscreen, ergonomically integrated into the upper housing section, provides safe and intuitive control of the system while enabling efficient recording and management of operating parameters, measurement data, and recipes.
