Pharma Reaction System
Engineered with pharmaceutical applications in mind.
See it in action - fast heat-up, fast cool-down
The Pharma Reaction System features a compact design and is available in standardized capacities ranging from 16 to 63 L. For larger volumes, systems with a glass-lined vessel and a glass dome - allowing optimal observation of the process - can be realized up to 630 L.

QVF®-Pharma Reactor Highlights
Function
The QVF® Pharma Reactor is a modular reactor system specifically designed for reaction and distillation processes. The reaction stage operates under total reflux conditions, followed by a distillation step in which volatile solvents are efficiently removed.
The system offers high flexibility and can be operated under slight overpressure (up to 0.5 barg) as well as under vacuum conditions.
Materials of Construction.
The system utilizes high-performance materials to ensure reliability and chemical resistance:
- Borosilicate glass 3.3 – highly chemical-resistant and thermally stable
- Glass-lined steel – robust and corrosion-resistant
- PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) – inert and resistant to aggressive chemicals
This combination of materials makes the system ideally suited for pharmaceutical synthesis, chemical research, laboratory-scale reactions, pilot-scale processing, and GMP-compliant applications.
Concept
The glass-lined reaction vessel is designed for GMP-compliant pharmaceutical and chemical processing, offering excellent corrosion resistance, cleanability, and process safety. Key features include a block flange for GMP-compliant connection, heating jacket to the flange, minimal dead-space bottom outlet valve, and a fully welded stainless-steel insulation jacket with foam-glass insulation.
The white enamel interior ensures optimal visual inspection.
The distillation assembly complies with the Pressure Equipment Directive, and all glass components from DN25 carry CE marking. Product lines are installed at a 5° incline for complete drainage, and the inclined condenser features a cleaning nozzle. The receiver vessel can be emptied and rinsed during operation.
An integrated sampling valve enables safe sampling even under vacuum.
QVF® SUPRA flat flanges with fire-polished sealing surfaces and a precision gasket groove ensure minimal dead space and secure the positioning of the GMP gasket.
The basic version of the Pharma Reaction System features comprehensive instrumentation covering all essential functions: precise temperature monitoring of the vessel contents and distillate, as well as operating pressure indication via a tantalum diaphragm manometer. A rupture disc ensures reliable overpressure protection. The rotation speed of the glass-lined impeller agitator can be smoothly adjusted using the handwheel on the drive.
All instruments can be easily assigned to the correlating vessels.
